48 Nepali Internet companies are not paying revenue to the state.

Kathmandu. It has been found that 48 Nepali Internet companies, including Classic Tech, Subisu, Broadlink, and Mercantile, have not paid 6 percent of the total income to be paid in 2078/079. The regulatory Nepal Telecommunication Authority published a notice on Wednesday and published a list of service provider companies that have not paid the amount due to the Royalty and Rural Telecommunication Development Fund.

According to the Telecommunications Act 2053, telecommunications and internet service providers who have received a license from the regulatory authority must deposit four percent of their total income as royalty and two percent of the rural telecommunications development fund into the government account for operating such services. For this, the amount has to be deposited within six months of the end of every financial year, i.e., before the end of January.

However, although the deadline for the payment of royalties and rural telecommunications development funds for 2078–079 is January 2079, various internet service providers have not yet paid the amount, according to the authority.

“Despite repeated requests from the authority, no filing has been done so far. According to the rules, the outstanding amount to be paid to the government of Nepal and the authority should be submitted by the end of July 2078 in the specified bank account with additional receipts, including the name of the service provider and the financial year, and submitted with the complete receipt attached. Be informed,” said the regulator.

It has also been clarified that if the amount is not deposited within the stipulated time, action will be taken to the full extent as per the rules. In this way, service providers who do not pay royalties and rural telecommunication development funds include Classic Tech, Subisu Cable Net, Mercantile Communications, Broadlink Network, and Communications.

Apart from that, there are Net Max Technologies, Loop Net Solutions, Mega Cable Net, Divine Stream Network, Cherry World Communication, and others.
