6 people died in the Manang Air helicopter crash.

At 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Manang Air’s ‘9 NA-MV‘ helicopter flying from Solukhumbu to Kathmandu crashed in Lamjurapas area, located in Likhupike rural municipality 5 of Solukhumbu.

DIG Rajeshnath Bastola informed me that six people died in the accident.

The helicopter pilot was Chet Bahadur Gurung. All five passengers were Mexican nationals.

Six bodies have been found. One person’s body was found in pieces. It has been reported that the bodies are in a burned state,’ he said. ‘It seems that the helicopter crashed into a tree.’

A team led by Asai Nirajan Basnet of the Nepal Police has reached the spot. He reached the spot on a motorcycle. 

DIG Bastola said that the work of collecting the bodies is going on.

The helicopter that took off from Surke in Solukhumbu at 10 a.m. lost contact at 10:30 a.m. The helicopter was supposed to arrive in Kathmandu at 11:00. But a police team was mobilized after getting the news that there had been no contact.

DSP Deepak Shrestha of the District Police Office and a team of the Nepali Army are also going to the spot.
